A visit from our local police brought joy, learning, and excitement to our centre. From role-playing in uniforms to exploring the police car, our tamariki gained confidence, language skills, and a deeper appreciation for community helpers.
This week our tamariki were very excited to welcome two friendly police officers to our centre! The visit began with a warm introduction where the officers spoke about their important role in keeping our community safe.
The children were curious, engaged, and listened carefully as the officers shared stories about how they help people every day. Next, the officers showed the children a wonderful collection of police photos, including pictures of police cars, dogs, and different uniforms.
The children asked lots of thoughtful questions, developing their confidence, language skills, and understanding of the community helpers they see around them. One of the highlights was when the children had the chance to try on real police gear! Wearing the hats and vests brought big smiles and lots of giggles.
The children proudly posed for photos and enjoyed role-playing, imagining themselves as brave, responsible police officers. The visit ended with an unforgettable experience — sitting inside the police car! The flashing lights, buttons, and loud siren fascinated the children.
It was an engaging, fun, and meaningful way for our tamariki to learn, explore, and make connections about the important role police play in our community.
