New Zealand Sign Language Week
Our deaf community is very important to us here at BestStart Buchanans Road so participating in NZSL Week was an absolute must for us!
Each day throughout the week, one of our kaiako posted a challenge up on our online platform, Storypark, for our families. The challenges were things like learning to sign the letters of your name; signing the days of the week; sharing a link to a te reo song with sign language etc. It was wonderful to see some of our tamariki excited to come in each day to show us what they had learned!
During the week each classroom learned a song in sign language and we all came together on Friday for a special hui to share our learning with each other. What an amazing celebration of our learning!
