Welcome to the Babies Room at BestStart Māngere East—a place where pēpi begin their learning journey with love, care, and curiosity. Our Mountain Climbers programme supports growth and independence through meaningful experiences and strong relationships.

At BestStart Māngere East, our Babies Room is a warm, welcoming environment where the youngest members of our learning community begin their journey of exploration and discovery.

We believe that every baby is a capable and curious learner. Our team is dedicated to supporting each child’s development in a way that is responsive, respectful, and deeply nurturing.

Through the Mountain Climbers programme, we place a strong emphasis on holistic development—nurturing not only cognitive growth but also emotional, physical, social, and language development. This programme is thoughtfully designed to meet babies where they are developmentally, helping them build confidence through small but significant achievements.

A key focus of Mountain Climbers is fostering self-help skills from an early age. Whether it’s learning to feed themselves, expressing needs through gestures or early language, or exploring their surroundings safely and independently, our babies are supported to become active participants in their own learning.

These everyday experiences help build a strong foundation for resilience, independence, and a lifelong love of learning. Our kaiako work in close partnership with families to ensure each baby’s routines and needs are respected and reflected in our care.

Through responsive relationships and a carefully prepared environment, our babies thrive in a space that is not only safe and stimulating but also rich with opportunities for discovery.

Every moment in the Babies Room is an opportunity for growth. With gentle encouragement and lots of love, our pēpi are truly climbing their own unique mountains—one confident step at a time.
