At BestStart Botany Junction, we celebrate each tamaiti’s learning and achievements. Through the Set for School programme, play-based learning, and strong whānau partnerships, children graduate with confidence, mana, and readiness for their next school journey.
Kia ora te whānau,
Here at BestStart Botany Junction, we love to celebrate our tamariki’s individuality, mana, achievements, learning, and milestones. One way we do this is through our Set for School programme.
We work closely with our whānau to identify their priorities for their children as they prepare for school. We provide play-based learning experiences that support these aspirations in a way that is engaging and meaningful for our tamariki.
Recently, we held a graduate ceremony to celebrate a child’s learning and achievements during their time with us. Our parents enjoy participating, seeing their child dressed in the gown and hat. We explain the meaning behind our class korowai, acknowledging the inherent mana of the child and those who came before them.
The ceremony also includes singing the national anthem in New Zealand Sign Language. We reflect on the child’s journey, highlighting the skills and confidence they have gained in preparation for school.
Preparing for school can be daunting, and every child has unique needs and abilities. Through play-based experiences and caring relationships at BestStart Botany Junction, our tamariki start their primary school journey with confidence.
