An exciting time of the year as we celebrate Easter. Easter has many different meanings to different cultures, religions and even households. We compile the essence of it all and convey it in a meaningful manner for our tamariki.

What is the first thing you think of for Easter? As adults, it may be the long weekend, but for children, it is often the chocolate eggs. Taking away the commercial propaganda, we wanted to learn and understand the history and the origins of Easter. Therefore, this year, we choose to have an Easter hunt with decorated eggs and to plant broccoli with our tamariki as a sign of life. Learning about Easter and healthy eating at the same time.

Along with the whanau, we talk about what we want to portray and what values they place importance on while incorporating it all in our curriculum. What is Easter like for you, I wonder?"
