To complete term 1, our preschool room teachers decided to have a Be School Ready / parent aspirations night in which we could talk to our parents about their aspirations for their children before they head to Primary School and also, give them some insight into our curriculum and what it is that we do as teachers to get their children "School Ready".

What was awesome about the night was that our parents were very receptive in participating in the different activities we set up and also why play is the best way for children to prepare for school.  In the past, we have had parents tell us they want their children to read and write before they head to primary school but after tonight, it has become apparent that our parents want their children to grow up to be good people who are happy and secure in themselves.

It was really nice for us as teachers to see the shift in our parents thinking and understanding that play does have a lot of benefits for their children and teaches them lots of important skills needed before they go to Primary School.
