Our Children teach us to make Chapati
We had lots of fun this morning when Harjio and Amreen taught us to make Punjabi chapati.
Amreen showed us how her family kneads the dough. She used her fingers to get it nice and light. After we had let the dough rest, we all took turns rolling out our own chapati before taking it to the kitchen to be cooked.
It was lovely to see our Punjabi children's delight when they realised we were cooking chapati like they have at home. They proudly shared their knowledge and expertise with us.
Sadly however, it was voted that our chapati was not as good as the chapati made at home. We have decided that next time we will get some Mums and Aunties to come and show us how it is done.
At BestStart Doncaster Kindy we love learning and sharing each others cultural experiences. We now have a centre culture where we are all proud of who we are and love to share and celebrate together.
