Our Chinese New Year Celebrations
This is the second year we celebrate Chinese New Year at BestStart Dixon Heights since our centre's opening. Tamariki and kaiako came into the centre dressed in red to support our celebration. This year we had a traditional dragon dance to make good wishes to our whanau. We also made tiger crafts, lanterns and engaged in art activities to celebrate the year of the tiger.
Tigers represent courage and perseverance in Chinese culture, which also symbols the spirit of overcoming difficulties for all people in this time. We learned about Chinese dragon dance and had hands-on experience on how to corporate with others to make things right. It’s a great opportunity to learn about other cultures. What an amazing day we have had at BestStart Dixon Heights! Happy Chinese New Year / 春节快乐!
