Our tamariki set out on a special journey to Māngere Mountain, the maunga that inspires our vision of ‘Growing Little Mountain Climbers.’ Together, they explored, played, and shared pepeha, deepening their sense of connection and identity.

Today, our preschool adventurers embarked on an unforgettable journey to Māngere Mountain, the iconic landmark that inspires our centre’s vision of ‘Growing Little Mountain Climbers.’

From the very beginning, the children were buzzing with excitement, eager to explore every path and peek behind every bush. The journey was more than just physical – it was about how we connect to our centre’s landmark. Teacher Au had the opportunity to share with Moe, Leyla, Aurora and Zion about that connection and how we all grow as we climb.

The children also enjoyed playing on the new playground at Māngere Mountain, which was full of fun and adventure. Every corner offered something new, from climbing and running to imaginative play.

A highlight was the little whare, where tamariki could hide, gather with friends, and let their imaginations run wild. It reminded them of their own marae and where they come from. Teacher Au shared her pepeha in the whare, and the children reflected on their own pepeha, which are displayed at the centre.

It was wonderful to see them laugh, share, and explore together, building confidence, curiosity and a deeper sense of identity. It was also a special opportunity for Teacher Au to teach about the children’s kaupapa and pepeha.
