Every year, at BestStart MacDonald Street, we come up with fun and innovative ideas to raise money for the annual Plunket appeal. Whānau Āwhina Plunket is a charity and Aotearoa’s largest support service for the health and wellbeing of tamariki under-five and their whānau.

As part of our fundraising, we had a cake and fudge sale which went down a treat with whanau and staff alike. We also decided to put money jars out for each teacher whereby the parents could nominate a teacher to be slimed and the teacher with the most money became the lucky recipient on the day. Every morning there was great excitement to see who was in the lead and at the end of the week, we decided it was too close to call so both Sheree and GG got slimed.

After the teachers had their fun sliming their colleagues it was the children’s turn and boy, did they love getting their “revenge”!

Amongst all the laughter and extra weight gain from the cakes and fudge, we raised $211.60 for Plunket.

Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi. Engari, he toa takitini – Success is not that of the work of one, but the work of many.
