Our Tiny Toes Playgroup
With our vision of "Bringing our A game to ignite a passion for teaching and learning" we decided to extend this to our community by offering a free play group. The idea behind our playgroup was to provide a stimulating environment which helps support the learning and development of all our babies - including those not currently enrolled at BestStart Vivian Street.
The playgroup also gives parents the ability to make social connections with other parents, fostering relationship building across the region. There are times when parents feel overwhelmed and just need another parent to talk to, and we wanted to help foster those relationships, to support our pepe.
With the community coming into our space, we have found that our enrolled children look forward to the diversity that playgroup brings, new faces, new ideas, new interactions and new children! All of the tamariki interact together, providing a secure base in those ever important social competency skills. With their parent's support, and our amazing Kaiako who are registered and experienced teachers, children are supported and guided at the right level, through the context of play, to develop social skills such as sharing and taking turns. Children are also exposed to routines helping them to feel secure and supported within the environment.
Coming along to playgroup gives parents a great introduction to how our centre runs, giving them the opportunity to ask any questions, gather as much knowledge as they need, and find out first hand that we are happy to support them throughout every situation we can. With a great home like environment, BestStart Vivian Street provides a home away from home, where children are loved, cared for and nurtured. Come along and join us, we'd love to meet you!
