It has been another eventful year!

We had planned our termly excursion to Remuera Primary for February. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have had to postpone the trip. A month later, we are all very excited to be going off and enjoying this trip and experience together. We walked to the school, passing by shops and many people.

The tamariki were very polite and remembered to share the footpath with all the pedestrians. They were also wonderful with their road safety, remembering to always stop, look and check before walking. As we arrived, the tamariki waited patiently as we were shown to the class. They were so lovely, joining their buddies with the activities and having so much fun. It was also wonderful to see some old friends that had recently graduated from Beststart Ascot there. They showed us around and made all the children feel so welcomed, having so much fun!

Being School Ready and starting their learning journey in Primary is a big milestone! We want to ensure that children are ready for this and this support starts from the first day they are with us. We have regular meetings with Primary Schools close by, and we discuss how we can better support the tamariki as they move to Primary. Every term, we take our eight oldest children and we come and join Remuera Primary so that children can see for themselves what to expect as they transition to school. We believe that with open communication and support, children can easily adapt and immerse themselves in the new learning environment. Having fun while we learn is what we encourage and support every day!"
