This week our tamariki had the wonderful opportunity to head out into the community and join Hāwera Primary School as they celebrated a huge milestone - their 150th jubilee.
What an achievement! The school’s production was full of singing, dancing, and storytelling, all sharing the history of their kura.
Our tamariki were completely engaged, clapping along, moving to the music, and even joining in with a boogie when the Macarena came on.
While it was lots of fun, the production was also rich in learning. Watching older children perform gave our tamariki a chance to see confidence, creativity, and teamwork in action, especially seeing friends that have moved onto school so confident up on stage!
Being out in our local community is something we value highly. These kinds of experiences help tamariki build confidence in new environments, develop connections with local schools they may transition to in the future, and strengthen their sense of belonging in the wider community. Of course, a big adventure calls for big energy!
Our walk back to South Road had a stop for ice blocks and made the journey home extra special. A huge thank you to Hāwera Primary School for inviting us to be part of your celebration.
Our tamariki are still talking about what they saw and heard, which is proof of just how meaningful and memorable these community experiences are.
