Pets at Top Kids Te Rapa
With children’s current interest in animals, it was a good time to introduce these pets. The teachers had discussions with children, and they were interested to have fish and budgies. A trip was organised in consultation with our centre whanau who works at the pet shop. It was a fun trip where children got an opportunity to see different types of animals and chose the fish and budgies for the centre. One of our whanau donated us a fish tank and the children with their teachers set up the fish tank and enjoyed introducing 4 beautiful fish to their classroom. A beautiful cage was purchased for the budgies. The children enjoy feeding and engaging with the pets. This is enabling the children to learn to respect for pets and care for them. Discussions are happening to give pets names.
