At Seymour Road Kindy, giving back to the community is close to our hearts. During the Plunket Appeal Week, our kindy came together to raise funds through a variety of fun and engaging activities that brought joy and a sense of purpose to everyone involved.
We at Seymour Road Kindy participated in fundraising to support Whānau Āwhina Plunket. Throughout the week, we organised a variety of activities for our tamariki to enjoy, including a dress-up disco, ice cream treat, raffle hamper, and the ever-popular slime-a-teacher event.
We are immensely grateful to our wonderful whānau for their generous contributions to this cause, and we were proud to be able to donate to Plunket. Tamariki and kaiako thoroughly enjoyed the week and enthusiastically took part in every activity.
These experiences promoted a strong sense of belonging, mahi tahi (collaboration), and whanaungatanga (relationships), as we came together to acknowledge and support the amazing work of Plunket. The ice cream treat was a favourite among the tamariki, and the slime event brought lots of laughter and excitement.
All our tamariki dressed in their finest for the dress-up disco day, which added to the festive atmosphere. As a community-based kindy, we aim to provide a warm, nurturing space that reflects the values of our whānau and wider community.
This week of giving back was filled with whenua (connection to place) and aroha (love), and gave our tamariki meaningful opportunities to learn alongside others. It supported their development in exploration, reasoning, problem-solving, and most importantly, building strong relationships through fun.
At Seymour Road Kindy, we believe in empowering our community by connecting and collaborating heartfully. Our goal is to provide equitable learning opportunities that support the holistic development of every child.
