At BestStart Ascot Avenue, we believe that some of the best learning happens beyond the classroom — and our recent excursion to Wairua Reserve was a perfect example. With backpacks on and curious minds ready, our tamariki set off on a nature-filled adventure, embracing the great outdoors through play, exploration, and discovery.
Our excursion to the Wairua Reserve was a delightful adventure, offering the children an opportunity to explore nature and enjoy outdoor play. Surrounded by lush trees, the reserve provided the perfect setting for a fun-filled day.
The children excitedly balanced along winding paths, their laughter filling the air as they slid down small hills. They eagerly climbed various structures, testing their strength and coordination while embracing the challenges of the natural landscape.
One of the most thrilling parts of the day was crossing the hanging bridge. With eager anticipation, the children carefully stepped across, taking in the serene beauty of their surroundings. Some moved cautiously, gripping the ropes tightly, while others confidently made their way across, encouraging their friends along the way. Their sense of achievement was evident in their bright smiles and excited chatter.
After all the excitement, we settled down for a peaceful picnic. The children savoured their snacks while relaxing amidst nature, taking a well-deserved break before heading back to the centre. It was a moment of calm reflection after an adventurous morning.
With happy hearts and lasting memories, the children returned, carrying with them the joy of a day well spent in the great outdoors.
