From fishing for colourful “catches” to building vibrant collages and solving number puzzles, our tamariki explored a range of fun, hands-on activities designed to nurture creativity, coordination, and early learning skills.
With tiny fishing rods, children carefully aimed to catch colourful fish. This game was a hit – not only was it fun, but it also helped our tamariki improve their hand-eye coordination and colour recognition. As they reeled in each fish, they excitedly called out the colours: “pink, blue, green, yellow, orange, and purple.” This playful activity also subtly introduced them to counting as they tallied the number of fish they caught.
Next, the children gathered around a table filled with colourful paper and glue for a collage session. They glued and arranged various shapes and colours, developing their fine motor skills. The room buzzed with creativity as tamariki transformed simple materials into vibrant artwork. They explored shapes, patterns, and the joy of creating something unique.
Finally, tamariki engaged in number slotting and rubber band play. These activities challenged their cognitive skills and introduced them to numeracy. They carefully placed numbered wooden blocks into matching slots and stretched rubber bands around nails to create patterns. These games enhanced their problem-solving abilities and fine motor skills as they worked diligently to complete each task.
Through these engaging activities, the children discovered that learning can be both exciting and rewarding. They honed their fine motor skills, improved their hand-eye coordination, and strengthened their colour recognition, numeracy, and cognitive skills. As they played and learned together, they created a world filled with joy, creativity, and endless possibilities.
