At BestStart Puketaha, one small tap is creating big learning moments!

Our Hapi Tap has quickly become a star of our outdoor space.

With just one press, water begins to flow — and suddenly our environment fills with curiosity, laughter, teamwork, and discovery. What might look like “just water play” is actually powerful learning unfolding before our eyes.

Our pēpi light up as they press the button and watch water magically appear. They are discovering cause and effect in real time. Tiny hands reach out to feel the cool splash, eyes track the moving water, and ears tune in to the gentle sound it makes.

These sensory-rich experiences strengthen coordination, build neural connections, and nurture natural curiosity about how the world works. Our toddlers approach with determination. Buckets in hand, they experiment with filling, pouring, tipping, and transporting.

They’re exploring big mathematical ideas — volume, capacity, empty and full — without even realising it! There’s problem-solving in action (“How can I press and hold my container?”), perseverance when things spill, and growing independence as they figure it out themselves. Then come our preschoolers — the innovators. The Hapi Tap transforms into car washes, potion labs, busy kitchens, and construction sites. Tamariki predict what might happen, test their theories, compare amounts, and refine their ideas.

Conversations flow as freely as the water: negotiating turns, sharing resources, planning together. Social competence, communication, and leadership skills flourish naturally in this shared space. And beyond the learning outcomes, there’s something beautifully regulating about it all. The steady stream of water, the rhythm of filling and pouring — it offers calm, focus, and empowerment.

Tamariki are in control. They press. It flows. They explore. We love resources like the Hapi Tap because they grow with our children. One simple tap supports science, mathematics, creativity, language development, social skills, and confidence — all wrapped in joyful, meaningful play. Sometimes, the most powerful learning really does begin with just the press of a button.
