At BestStart Abacus, we use a project planning approach that focuses on exploring and growing our Tamariki's interests.
Kaiako weave lots of meaningful learning into our project plan focus such as developing strategies for playing and learning alongside others. We do this through providing inspiring environments and experiences.
We are currently exploring 'The natural world' which has stemmed from our Tamariki's interest in insects and planting. Over the last couple of months, we have had so much fun investigating and extending on this interest.
So far, we have joined in and celebrated World Bee Day by dressing up as bees and creating a beehive using recycled materials. We learnt about the amazing bee life cycle and how they sustain our planet! This project plan has also led us to participate in our local planting days with Kids Greening Taupo. The Tamariki really enjoyed working alongside others to plant native trees.
It was so special to be a part of taking care of our community, meeting lots of people and learning about caring for our environment. We especially love inviting our whanau to join in with our project plan. We have had lots of great photos sent to us by whanau of their family exploring nature together at home. We like to place these special photos on our walls and into our Tamariki's special book for them to revisit.
Our team of Kaiako here at Abacus enjoy creating amazing tuff tray experiences for our Tamariki. Our project plan has inspired us to create some great sensory exploration activities that grow our Tamariki's love for nature. Our project plan follows our Tamariki's rhythm and interests. They lead the way, and we are excited to see where else our project plan will take us.
