At BestStart Vardon we had a Science Day as part of our Holiday Programme. In the nursery room, tamariki had the opportunity to explore ice moulds followed by gloop. As the ice melted, the water turned yellow from the dye, the water became a lot cooler and creatures floated freely out from the ice. The tamariki also experienced a fun and intriguing consistency as the gloop can be runny, powdery and firm all at the same time. The tamariki had a sensory-rich experience as they explored colour, texture, smell and even taste. Kaiako were supporting this learning by questioning and using descriptive language to develop vocabulary and curiosity.
