Science for the Keas

Today the Kea group had a very fun time trying out a science experiment. Using milk, food colouring and dish soap to cause a scientific reaction. Our Kaiako Sharon explained to our Tamarik all the steps they would need to complete the experiment. Then group also discussed why they were getting the reaction. How the fat in the milk is eaten by the dish soap and is causes the milk and food colouring to mix around.

It was wonderful to see the ore and delight from our tamariki as they watched the colours dance around their plate as the science experiment worked. This experience meant the tamariki could have full autonomy of this activity and were able to see their concentration and involvement get a positive reaction straight away.
