In the month of July, our tamariki were showing an interest in sensory exploration. They actively engaged in sensory play and explored the world of science around them. The centre along with the experienced Kaiako’s provided them with the opportunity to test the property of water, sand and witness the changes in texture as they mixture together.

The children developed an inbuilt drive for discovery, great opportunities were here in Botany Junction as the children were encouraged to explore, observe and form their own opinion on their observations. Through the process of pouring, squeezing and measuring these concoctions into containers, shells, bamboo, etc our tamariki gained fine motor skills, great focus, attention and hands-on experience. These open-ended resources provided children with  an opportunity to interact with their peers and environment supporting their intellectual development.
