Here at BestStart St Albans, we have been working hard on our set for school program for our 4-year-old tamariki
As part of this we took our 4-year-olds on a visit to our local primary school.
This was super exciting for our tamariki as we caught the bus to school which came with a lot of responsibility, sitting next to a friend instead of a teacher and pushing the stop button when we get to the right stop.
Once we arrived at school, we were greeted by the staff who showed us to their classrooms. We joined their new entrance tamariki for story and snack time with our packed lunchboxes (we normally have centre provided hot meals but as part of our set for school program our 4-year-olds have lunchbox day once a week, provided by the centre).
This came with some challenges of opening containers, balancing the lunchbox as well as saving food for latter. After this we had some time exploring their writing app, bobble word where we traced the different letters! We then moved to their Year 1 classroom and joined them for a bit of learning time and mat time.
Our tamariki did so well at school today. Big thanks to Shirley Primary school for sharing their classroom with us!
