In our Preschool room for tamariki aged 4–5 years, we support children to prepare for school by catering to their individual needs while celebrating their abilities, strengths, and interests. Our well-planned and intentional teaching environment is designed to build on their existing school-readiness skills and learning dispositions.
We respect each child’s cultural identity, home language, and cultural celebrations, nurturing their sense of manaakitanga. We value whānau aspirations and work collaboratively to understand their goals, weaving these into our planning to strengthen children’s sense of belonging and kotahitanga.
Our Set for School programme supports tamariki in developing essential numeracy, literacy, oral language, and social and emotional skills, enabling a confident and successful transition to school.
Our Friday lunchbox day supports tamariki to build independence, self-help skills, and healthy eating habits. Alongside this, our 16 areas of play provide rich, hands-on learning experiences where children are encouraged to create, investigate, and explore.
Mat times are thoughtfully designed to provide opportunities for tamariki to explore together through pūrākau (legends), music and movement, and waiata. These group experiences encourage participation, listening, and contribution.
Our calming activities and yoga sessions further support tamariki to relax while strengthening their social and emotional development.
