At BestStart Lakeside Village, our Set for School programme continues to provide meaningful opportunities for tamariki to grow their confidence, independence, and readiness for school.
This month, children have been engaging in literacy, numeracy, and collaborative learning experiences that encourage curiosity and problem-solving.
They have enjoyed recognising letters, participating in group discussions, and exploring mathematical concepts through games and hands-on activities.
An important part of the programme is developing independence. Children have been taking responsibility for their personal belongings, following routines, and making thoughtful choices throughout the day.
These experiences help build self-confidence and resilience, key skills that support a positive transition to school. We have also focused on social and emotional development. Through group projects and cooperative play, children have practised listening, taking turns, sharing ideas, and working together towards common goals.
We are so grateful for our partnership with whānau, whose encouragement and involvement play a significant role in children's learning journeys. Together, we are supporting each child to become a confident, capable, and lifelong learner.
We are proud of the progress our tamariki are making and look forward to continuing their Set for School journey as they prepare for the exciting transition to primary school.
