Slacklining fun!

Slacklining is a perfect way for children of all ages to hone balancing skills while building core strength and confidence. 

While reviewing physical exploration the teaching team thought we would purchase and trial using slack lines and we’ve had so much fun using it these last few weeks! Slacklining has been one of the favorite outdoor experiences and we were blown away by how much time they spend on it daily, balancing, bouncing and playing games. We thought we would explore the basics of slacklining for children and why it’s a great product to add to our environment!

The children have absolutely loved the slacklines, they incorporate so many of the things that they appear to find fun like balance, falling, bouncing pretty all physical challenges! Slacklining helps build her core strength and balance, improves focus and confidence and is a total body workout . 

The children have been really challenging themselves in the outdoor environment and exploring what the body can do! Getting outside in the fresh air physically challenging themselves with the slacklines and other experiences are not only supporting taha tinana but also  hinengaro by problem solving, persevering and building confidence! They also had to turn take, share space and build taha whanau and belonging. 

The teaching value the centre philosophy here at Best Start Taradale where the children can lead their own play and learning outcomes by following what is important to them, supporting taha wairua. The children's hauora appear to be strong and they always have your kaiako and peers looking out and caring for them!
