Special visit from Te Hapara School
Tena koutou, tena koutou, tena tatou katoa
Talitali fiefia, melo e lelei
Today we had a special visit from Te Hapara school Pacifica ropu. We were privileged to be embraced with a performance delivered by our tuakana, they involved our tamariki by including them and teaching them some beats using old paint buckets.
WOW LOOK AT OUR TAMARIKI GO!!!!!!!
I noticed nga tamariki faces light up with excitement as for some their whanau walked in the doors and for others the faces of children that had attend our centre before transitioning off to school.
I observed a variety of learning experiences for all children, for some it was trying something new, learning/ embracing Tongan Culture, exploring music using different tools, expressing themselves, having a sense of belonging, confidence and for some learnt that drums can be loud.
Together we discussed where we would like to take our learning journey next? Nga tamariki expressed different ideas: reaching out to other schools in the community- Orum mentioned his brother goes to Gisborne intermediate, make our own instruments, doing a performance for our whanau, learning new waiata and Izzy suggested we visit his church.
I look forward to see what will happen next!!!!!!!!
