Summer is always a season filled with sunshine, laughter, and memorable experiences...
...but this year it was truly twice the fun at BestStart Russell Street!
On 14th January, our centre came alive with colour, excitement, and joyful energy as we hosted our much-anticipated Carnival Day!
From the start of the day, there was a buzz of excitement throughout the centre. Our dedicated teaching team did an incredible job transforming the playground into a vibrant carnival space, thoughtfully setting up a wide range of engaging activities for our tamariki.
The festive atmosphere reflected the strong sense of community and teamwork that defines BestStart Russell Street. One of the highlights of the day was the water play area, where a long water mat with sprinklers on one side provided endless fun.
Tamariki delighted in running, sliding, and splashing along the mat, enjoying a refreshing and sensory-rich experience. The carnival games were a huge hit. Tamariki participated in a carnival-style toss game, aiming for different holes on the board to score points. Other popular activities included giant hoops for balloon tossing, aiming stacked cups, bouncing balls into cups, and ringing cones.
These games supported the development of hand-eye coordination, concentration, and gross motor skills in a playful and engaging way. Adding to the excitement was the Carnival Dance House, where music filled the air and tamariki expressed themselves through movement. Children eagerly showed off their best dance moves, building confidence, creativity, and a sense of joy through rhythm and dance.
The celebration ended on a sweet note with delicious ice cream, shared by teachers and children together. This moment of connection perfectly wrapped up a day filled with laughter, learning, and summer fun. Carnival Day was a wonderful celebration of play, creativity, and community, creating lasting memories for our tamariki at BestStart Russell Street.
