Sushi Making!

As part of our amazing school holiday programme at BestStart Montel Ave, the tamariki had a go at making their own sushi! 

As we prepped everything together we were able to have a wonderful group discussion about each ingredient, what does it look/smell/taste like?  Once everything was ready, the children made their own sushi rolls, using their clean hands to push the rice to the edge of the seaweed before choosing and adding their own fillings.  

It was a bit tricky to roll it up with the mat but they all did a wonderful job!  They loved seeing it cut open to reveal what they had put inside…before helping to slice it up and storing it safely in their own lunch boxes ready for lunchtime!  

While not everyone was a fan, it was great that they all gave it a try!  We can’t wait to try it again!
