Term 2 was all about..
Welcome to term 2 at BestStart Gillies Avenue! This term was all about events and celebrations. Easter, Anzac Day, Mother's Day, Earth day, Samoan language week and the list could go on. Our children love being part of and exploring different events and celebrations. Through many discussions, learning activities and parent invitations children learn to understand and make connections from home to centre and then to wider world.
Which is what we're all about - preparing our children for the world as competent and confident learners! We had visits from Newmarket Police Station who hosted a small mat time for the children and we even got to see the police car in full action. Set for school is a big focus on horizon in Pohutukawa room (2-5). We're exploring different learning activities and ways to engage our children in school preparation while still empowering child-led learning. In Kowhai room (under 2), we went out on our regular coffee date to local cafe. Milestones, relationship and love are our prime focus with pepi. Mums and dads came along and while we chatted over a cup of coffee and fluffies for little ones, we built on stronger relationships.
