The Expedition to the Exhibition

There was a buzz of excitement at Ōtūmoetai Montessori as tamariki prepared for our big expedition to Bellevue Primary School’s Art Exhibition.

With walking buddies by our side, we set off into the community—practising safe walking and soaking in the sights along the way. We noticed houses, people walking their dogs, cars passing by, and road signs that helped guide us on our journey.

When we arrived, we signed in at the school office and made our way to the long-awaited exhibition in the hall. What a sight it was! The room was filled with incredible artworks showcasing a variety of mediums, materials, and techniques.

We even spotted some familiar local legends — stories of Mauao and the Patupaiarehe — beautifully brought to life through art. The exhibition sparked so much inspiration, and we can’t wait to try out some of these creative ideas back at our own centre.

After exploring the art, we were invited to play both in the classroom and on the playground. The ball launcher and seesaw were instant favourites, and laughter filled the air as we played alongside both familiar and new friends. Once we’d played to our hearts’ content, we gathered for a shared snack and joined story time in the classroom.

The teacher read wonderful stories, and we even learned a brand-new song to sing together. We returned to Montessori with happy hearts, full of new ideas and memories from a day filled with creativity, connection, and fun.

Ngā mihi nui to everyone who made this excursion such a joyful success! We look forward to more trips together to explore the local community!
