Rangiora BestStart is the place where 'Relationships Thrive' and we are always looking for opportunities to involve our whānau in our daily programme whenever possible.

This week we used the Olympic Games to support our physical well-being, enrich our relationships with each other and our whānau community.  We began with an opening ceremony at the beginning of the week, followed by a week of specific activities each day and concluded with a closing ceremony and shared kai with our whānau. Each of our tamariki (children) received their own participation medal as a reminder of the event.

Over recent months our learning focus has been around working and playing alongside others and developing a range of communication skills for sustaining relationships with others. Through the activities we offered, tamariki were practicing skills in social competency through turn taking and learning about fair play which has been beneficial in building resilience when we do not always come first. Out tamariki learned how to be a participant as well as a competitor and if we do our best, that makes us CHAMPIONS!
