Xīnnián kuàilè 新年快乐

What an exciting day to celebrate the year of Tiger. Our tamariki were dressed up in red and some even have qipao (Chinese dress) on looking adorable to embrace the Chinese culture with us all. We took this opportunity to encourage our tamariki  to learn about the significant events, and things associated with the festival of Chinese New Year, the significant colour of red, specific patterns, designs, and texture of Chinese decorations.

Some tamariki were encouraged to learn to write the word "luck" in Chinese, make Chinese fans and develop hand gestures and greetings of "gong xi fa cai" where as some tamariki helped teachers to put together a sculpture Tiger to ride on. Last but not least, the highlight of the day was that all of our tamariki went home filled their tummies with various delicious Chinese food (spring rolls, money pockets, and fried rice) enjoying the Chinese feel till the end of the day. What an absolute pleasure in celebrating Chinese New Year as one.
