There is something truly special about watching children read in our Toitoi Room (preschool room). It is in these quiet, everyday moments that our tiny Toitoi readers begin their journey towards becoming confident future leaders.
Curled up on the mat or tucked into the calm corner, each tamariki finds a space that feels safe, familiar, and inviting. Surrounded by a variety of books, they eagerly flip through pages, study the pictures, recognise letters, and let their imaginations run free.
Some children prefer to sit quietly on their own, completely absorbed in their story, while others lean close to a friend, sharing giggles and pointing out their favourite parts. These small interactions may seem simple, but they are filled with rich learning.
In our peaceful and unhurried environment, reading feels joyful and meaningful. There is no pressure, just curiosity, confidence, and growing independence. Through these daily experiences, children strengthen their language skills, creativity, and love for learning.
They are building the foundations they will carry with them into primary school and beyond. Our Toitoi Room may be small, but within its walls big growth is happening, shaping not only little readers but the thoughtful, capable leaders of tomorrow.
“Today a reader, tomorrow a leader.”
