Today we headed out to the Canterbury Museum to go and explore. The children have been really enjoying finding out about the living world and to extend this learning we thought that this trip would provide some great discussion opportunities.

What fun we all had! The children really gained a lot through this experience. Through this learning they were expanding their knowledge around animals, both alive now and prehistoric. The children were using their senses and through this relate the feelings of how things were soft, hard or bumpy. They then could talk about this in relation to different animals. This will support their developing working theories and also support their language as we learnt new names of different animals and objects. The children today also helped us with a lot of maths discussions. Ka pai tamariki, we hope you had a lovely day!
