We went on excursions to Miramar North Primary School in Term 2, it was invaluable for tamariki in Montessori Rongotai, providing them with enriching learning experiences and fostering connections with their community. This visit offered children the chance to develop crucial social skills by interacting with peers of varying ages in unfamiliar settings.

Engaging in activities such as collaborative projects or educational games encourages teamwork and communication skills, which are essential for their development. In Montessori Rongotai, we run regular excursions termly and special excursions. These excursions expose children to new educational environments and resources, expanding their understanding of learning beyond the confines of their childcare center.

They may encounter different teaching methods, subjects, or technologies, sparking curiosity and broadening their educational horizons. This exposure encourages a love for learning and exploration from an early age. Beyond educational benefits, excursions connect children with their local community. They gain awareness of their surroundings and develop a sense of belonging by visiting primary schools, meeting older students, teachers, and other community members.

This interaction fosters respect for diversity and cultural understanding as children observe and engage with different practices and perspectives. Additionally, visiting primary schools provides children with positive role models and aspirations for their future educational journeys. They may be inspired by older students or teachers, shaping their own educational goals and ambitions. Overall, excursions to primary schools play a crucial role in enhancing children's social, cognitive, and emotional development while strengthening their ties to their community and broadening their educational experiences.
