Waikite's Cross Country
Here at Waikite Valley Kindy we have a strong relationship with our neighbouring school, last term we were invited over to hold our own kindy cross country before the school kids had their run. Our kindy tamariki prepared themselves by running and doing warm ups around the kindy inner grounds and playground before the day arrived. On other days our tamariki watched the school kids practice their running around the school field and as the day got closer we then watched them out the front gate while they practiced on the real course. This gave us a real idea of what cross country is all about at school and what the tamariki have to look forward too during their school years. The day finally arrived, we had parent help and support, our BestStart vests on so the tamariki could be seen on the field, our running shoes and feet on and it was time to READY—SET –GO! Our tamariki did an amazing job at running 2 laps around the Waikite Valley School field. We are so proud of them all. They all showed so much enthusiasm and determination! After our lunch our oldest tamariki got the chance to head over to the real cross country course to watch the school kids, earlier in day they created a sign to hold up and cheer on their siblings and friends they know at the school. We are proud of our connection with the school and look forward to our next event, I wonder what it will be!
