Water Play Day at BestStart Montessori The Gardens
When hot days arrive in Dunedin we celebrate them!
As part of our holiday programme we had a Water Play Day. As well as using the opportunity to practise our care of the environment by using the day to clean all the chairs from the classrooms, we took turns at inflating our rainbow sprinkler. One of the teachers was trying to blow it up herself when a very clever child mentioned that they use a foot pump at home - what a great idea!!
This also meant that the children were able to assist in the task, practising their social skill of turn taking and also using the scientific concept of prediction as they worked out how many children might need a turn before it was fully inflated.
Such fun. Bring on the next hot day!!
