At Rooseville Park, our tamariki use all their senses to explore nature’s wonders — from trees growing new branches to meeting friendly dogs and discovering wiggly worms. Each adventure teaches kindness, respect, and the importance of our senses in the natural world.
We visit Rooseville Park in Pukekohe each week for an exciting bush walk. This week was another special experience, using our senses to explore and learn about the world around us.
Along our walk, we came across a very interesting tree. Its branches reached down into the soil and grew into the ground, creating another tree while still being connected to the first one. Nature is amazing, isn’t it? It’s always finding ways to grow and change!
We also met a friendly dog named Mila on our walk. Before patting her, we used our ears to listen carefully to the owner’s response after politely asking for permission. Everyone showed kindness and respect, making sure Mila felt safe and comfortable.
One of the most exciting parts of our adventure was using our hands and strong muscles to push over an old tree trunk. Underneath, we discovered a wiggly worm! It was fascinating to see how it moved through the soil, helping to keep the earth healthy.
We hope this adventure helped our tamariki discover how important our senses are in exploring the world around us. We were able to see, hear, feel, and experience the wonders of nature. Our senses help us explore, stay safe, and appreciate the beauty of our surroundings.
Who knows what exciting discoveries await us on our next adventure!
