WOW what an exciting few months we have had here at BestStart Paraparumu getting ready for our annual WAM (Wearable arts and music) performance held with other Wellington BestStart centres.

This year our theme was around Culture and Identity. Our tamariki all dressed in a costume from their own culture and very confidently and proudly danced in front of over 100 adults and children to the song "In the jungle, the mighty jungle, the lion sleeps tonight".

This sits so nicely with our centre vision, 'Passion for learning, passion for life'.  Every child was so involved, not only sharing their cultural outfits to support them to gain a sense of belonging, they practiced following a dance routine, working together and supporting each other when at times they were quiet nervous.

Then to truly make this occasion even more amazing, all their Whanau were invited along to share the special occasion with them.
