At Beststart Barrington, we are inspired by kindness!

BestStart Barrington provides a mana enhancing curriculum that instils an unwavering sense of confidence in our tamariki.

Kaiako / teachers and whānau work collaboratively with our tamariki to develop social and emotional competence, allowing our tamariki to be confident in who they are and build positive strategies for self-regulation and resilience that they can use for life. Across our centre each classroom supports tamariki with positive strategies to manage themselves and express their feelings and needs. Kaiako will demonstrate tools and strategies on how to self-regulate using affirmations supporting children to find comfort in their emotions.

Kind words from parents

"I was so nervous about my daughter starting full-time preschool. But Barrington Beststart has been amazing at transitioning her. The teachers are so kind and create a safe environment for the kiddies. They take the time to update you with pictures of the kids through the storypark app. Which is reassuring for the parents and also just fun to see what your baby has been upto during the day! Beststart barrington is an incredible establishment! 🙌👏"

"The team at BestStart Barrington are like an extended family for my whānau. They genuinely care about my child and her well-being, and they care about the rest of our family’s well-being as well. I wouldn’t have my kid attend anywhere else."

"I have two boys who attend Best Start Barrington and my youngest receives the most extra special care and learning experience in the Nursery The wonderful ladies are not only super attentive and great at their jobs but you can feel the genuine Aroha they have for not only my tamariki but all the tamariki at the centre it's a very safe and warm environment. My youngest has grown and learned so much since starting at BestStart Barrington. They are also extra vigilant with his medical requirements too and that gives this worried Mum such relief. I can not fault the nursery at all they have exceeded my expectations and more and I brag and recommend this wonderful center as a collective to all my friends and whanau thank you all. Team, you guys rock and we love being apart of the Best Start Whānau"

We have been really happy with our choice to enrol our daughter at BestStart Barrington. She has settled in so well to the routines and loves her days with her kaiako and friends. The updates we get on our daughter’s learning and next steps show how well her teacher’s know her and seeing what she is doing during the week is so special. We are so pleased we made the decision to send our daughter to BestStart Barrington - we can already see how much she is thriving!

Our whānau is very grateful to have the BestStart Barrington team taking care of our boy. We joined the centre in May this year and are lucky to call this wonderful group of kaiako part of our village. I want to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank Kirsten for the aroha and manaakitanga she has shown - far beyond anything I could have expected. In the lead-up to Matariki, I was asked to share some information about our whakapapa. I later found out that Kirsten was creating a display to acknowledge and celebrate the iwi connections within our class. More than that, she had also taken the extra step of seeking advice from a Mãori advisor at the university to learn how each iwi represented in the class might celebrate Matariki. When I found this out, it quite literally brought me to tears! Beyond that, it's so clear - through the updates shared on Storypark and the conversations at pickup and drop-off - that our boy spends his school days feeling safe, cared for, and supported. As a parent returning to work, it has meant so much to know that he's in such good hands. It's moments like these that remind us teaching isn't just a job; it's a calling. And how lucky are we that it called to Kirsten? What an epic human!

The incredible team at BestStart Barrington has gone above and beyond for our child. Their support through his autism diagnosis and their care in helping him develop vital skills like communication and socializing with his peers has been life changing for our son and our family. We truly believe he wouldn’t be where he is today without their dedication, patience and care.
