At BestStart Barrington we have five age-based classrooms to meet the changing needs of tamariki as they grow. In every room children engage in developmentally appropriate activities that cover all 16 areas of play.
Makomako Rūma (3 – 16 months)
Kererū Rūma(16 months - 2 years old)
Our Kererū rūma creates an environment which encourage the curiosity and independence of our toddler’s, allowing them the time and space to explore the environment. Children experience an environment where their emotional well-being is nurtured and kaiako support tamariki to manage themselves and their feelings and needs.
Weka Rūma (2-3 year olds)
Kaiako embed daily routines and plan intentional teaching experiences around the children’s individual needs, providing an environment that is fun, engaging and strong in social and emotional competencies to support the development and growth of our wonderful two year olds.
Pārera Rūma (3-4 year olds)
Our Pārera rūma extends and supports your child’s social skills and independence. Through a daily programme rich in language and communication, kaiako will support and encourage children’s curiosity, imagination and problem-solving skills. We encourage mana through affirmations, thoughtful practice and positive language.
Pūtangitangi Rūma (4-5 year olds)
Kaiako support tamariki to have a range of strategies for reasoning and problem solving, building resilience and encouraging independence and positive self-esteem.
Set for School Programme - Kaiako create positive routines which enhance the children’s developing social and emotional needs. Implementing a Set for School programme that extends the children’s literacy and math skills and enhances their curiosity and imagination.
