Discover our unique rooms

BestStart Botany Road offers a vibrant environment with spacious, age-appropriate classrooms and large, natural playgrounds. Our centre is designed to encourage exploration, independence, and a love for learning through various interactive and engaging activities.

FantailInfants (Under 2's)

Our Fantail Room is a warm, nurturing space designed especially for our youngest tamariki aged 0 to 2 years. Here, infants and toddlers are supported through every stage of their early development, from first smiles and rolling over to confident walking and early communication. The environment is calm, safe, and thoughtfully set up to encourage exploration through sensory play, movement, and gentle routines.

Our kaiako build strong, responsive relationships with each child, ensuring they feel secure, understood, and valued. With a focus on individual rhythms and needs, we create a predictable flow to the day that helps children develop trust and confidence. Whether they are discovering new textures, engaging in early social play, or enjoying quiet moments of connection, every experience is designed to support their growth and wellbeing.

The Fantail Room is a place where curiosity begins, independence emerges, and foundational learning takes shape — all within a caring, whānau‑centred environment.

TuataraToddlers (2-3 years)

Our Tuatara Room is a lively, supportive space created especially for our adventurous 2‑year‑olds. At this age, children are bursting with curiosity, confidence, and a growing desire to do things “all by myself,” and our environment is designed to nurture exactly that. With a balance of open‑ended play, sensory exploration, and early learning experiences, tamariki are encouraged to investigate, experiment, and express their emerging independence.

Our kaiako build strong, trusting relationships with each child, offering gentle guidance as they develop social skills, language, and problem‑solving abilities. Daily routines are predictable yet flexible, helping children feel secure while giving them plenty of opportunities to make choices and take part in meaningful play.

Whether they’re exploring outdoors, engaging in creative activities, or forming their first friendships, the Tuatara Room is a place where confidence grows and learning comes to life. It’s a warm, welcoming environment where every child is supported to thrive.

Pukeko(3-4 years)

Our Pukeko Room is a vibrant, inspiring space designed for our confident and imaginative 3‑year‑olds. At this age, children are full of curiosity, creativity, and a growing sense of independence, and our environment supports them as they explore more complex play and deeper learning experiences. With opportunities for problem‑solving, early literacy and numeracy, imaginative play, and hands‑on discovery, tamariki are encouraged to follow their interests and express their ideas.

Our kaiako foster strong, supportive relationships, guiding children as they develop social skills, build friendships, and learn to work collaboratively with others. Daily routines provide a balance of structure and freedom, helping children feel secure while giving them plenty of space to make choices and take on new challenges.

Whether they’re creating masterpieces, engaging in group projects, exploring outdoors, or sharing stories with friends, the Pukeko Room is a place where confidence grows and learning flourishes. It’s a joyful, dynamic environment where every child is supported to shine.

Koru(4-5 years)

Our Koru Room is an exciting, purposeful learning space designed for our confident and capable 4‑year‑olds. As children prepare for the transition to school, our Set for School programme provides rich opportunities to build early literacy and numeracy foundations, strengthen social skills, and develop the independence they’ll need for their next big step.

A key focus in the Koru Room is self‑regulation — supporting tamariki to understand their emotions, manage challenges, and navigate social situations with confidence. Through intentional teaching, meaningful routines, and plenty of opportunities for problem‑solving and collaboration, children learn how to express themselves, make thoughtful choices, and work alongside others.

Our environment encourages curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning. Whether children are exploring project work, engaging in group discussions, experimenting with new ideas, or developing early school readiness skills, they are supported by kaiako who know them well and celebrate their unique strengths.
The Koru Room is a place where confidence grows, friendships deepen, and children begin to see themselves as capable learners ready for the journey ahead.
