BestStart is one of NZ's leading early childcare providers. BestStart Buchanans Road in Hornby, Christchurch provides affordable, high quality education and award winning childcare for babies, toddlers and preschoolers.

At BestStart Buchanans Road we let the uniqueness of each and every child guide our work!

At BestStart Buchanans Road, your whānau becomes ours, and we treat every child as an individual and plan their learning and care based off of exactly where they are. We are a diverse community situated in a new subdivision on the outskirts of Hornby and Hei Hei.

We have relationships with the local school across the road which we regularly visit, making transitions to school a breeze for our graduating tamariki. We provide a programme that is child initiated, based on current individual and group interests, needs and developmental stages. Teachers stimulate children’s play and learning creating the opportunity to not only have fun, but to enhance the total development and skills of each child and build a sense of belonging. We encompass the rich diversities within our community, believing that everyone brings something unique and exciting to our centre.

Our Team

We are an experienced and dedicated team with a passion for developing strong relationships with families. Many of our staff have called the centre home for many years, most staff for over five years, and some even 10 years!

The staff are warm and friendly and approachable, prioritise your kids learning and growth with efficient and timely communication with myself about any issues that may arise as well as all the positive things, I know my kids are safe, learning through their play and are being well educated! BestStart Buchanans Road has been taking care of our tamariki for 4 years now and we wouldn't choose any other provider. The kaiako are enthusiastic with a true passion for what they do, always ensuring all children are cared for lovingly . The activities throughout the day are stimulating and our tamariki always come home with a smile on their face and can't wait to go back the next day. From the moment my twin boys started going to BestStart Buchanans Road, they were made to feel so welcome, and so was I. As a parent, i felt very comfortable with the centre and loved the positivity and happiness the center brought to myself and the boys. The boys got to know everyone and loved all the staff. The staff there are so caring and helpful with every aspect of my boys' learning and education . From the moment you walk into the friendly reception, to the boys' rooms, it's like one big family. My boys have grown so much and learned so much by being there in all aspects of their development, and I know they will continue to thrive by being there until they are ready to transition to school.
