Our Nursery Room at BestStart Buchanans Road provides a cosy, safe and nurturing environment for pēpi under two years old. We understand how important it is for babies to feel secure and connected as they begin their early learning journey. Our kaiako take the time to build trusting relationships with each pēpi, creating a strong sense of belonging and supporting the value of whanaungatanga through meaningful connections.

• A Cosy and Safe Nest: Our dedicated nest provides a comfortable space for our youngest pēpi to feel safe, settled and cared for as they explore their surroundings at their own pace.

• Start with Heart: Our Start with Heart approach focuses on building strong, trusting relationships with pēpi and their whānau. We take the time to understand each child's individual needs and routines, helping them feel secure and supported as they settle into the Nursery.

• Relationships and Connection: Our kaiako nurture close bonds with pēpi through responsive, loving care. These relationships support their emotional wellbeing and help them develop a sense of trust and belonging.

Our Toddler Room at BestStart Buchanans Road is designed for two-year-olds who are discovering their independence, finding their voices and growing in confidence as they explore the world around them. With a safe, thoughtfully planned environment and their own outdoor area, tamariki have plenty of opportunities to move, investigate and learn through play. Our kaiako follow children's interests to create meaningful experiences that support their individual development.

• Growing Independence: Toddlers are encouraged to make choices, try new things and develop confidence in their growing abilities. Our environment gives them the freedom to explore safely as they discover what they can do.

• Learning Through Play: Our kaiako plan engaging experiences inspired by children's interests and curiosity, helping them develop new skills while having fun and making discoveries.

• Indoor and Outdoor Exploration: With their own outdoor area, tamariki can extend their learning beyond the classroom. They have space to move, explore and develop their coordination and physical skills through active play.

Our Preschool Room at BestStart Buchanans Road is designed for three-year-olds who are growing in confidence, independence and curiosity. Our kaiako create engaging learning experiences that encourage tamariki to play, explore and discover new interests. With a thoughtfully arranged classroom and a shared outdoor area with older peers, children have opportunities to develop their skills, learn from one another and begin taking on leadership roles within the centre.

• Growing Confidence and Independence: Our kaiako encourage tamariki to make choices, try new things and take on new challenges. These experiences help children develop confidence in their abilities and become capable, independent learners.

• Learning Through Play: We support children's natural curiosity through purposeful learning experiences that encourage them to explore their interests, solve problems and develop new skills.

• Tuakana-Teina Relationships: Sharing an outdoor space with older tamariki creates opportunities for children to learn from one another. These relationships encourage cooperation, connection and a sense of belonging as children develop alongside their peers.

• Developing Leadership Skills: As tamariki grow in confidence and independence, they are encouraged to take responsibility, share their ideas and support others, helping them develop the skills to become leaders within their centre community.

Our Prep Room at BestStart Buchanans Road supports children aged four to five years as they build confidence, independence and the skills they need for their transition to primary school. Our classroom is thoughtfully designed for this age group, encouraging tamariki to lead their own learning, take on new challenges and explore their interests. Our kaiako extend children's learning through purposeful experiences that help them grow as capable and confident learners.

• Set for School: Our Set for School programme offers extension experiences that help prepare tamariki for the transition to primary school. Through purposeful learning opportunities, children develop confidence, independence and the skills they need for this exciting next step.

• Local School Connections: We have strong relationships with our local primary school and regularly visit with our Prep Room tamariki. These visits help children become familiar with the school environment and feel more comfortable and confident about starting school.

• Child-Led Learning: Tamariki are encouraged to follow their interests, make choices and take an active role in their learning. Our kaiako build on children's ideas to extend their knowledge and encourage further exploration.
