BestStart Claudelands in Hamilton has been rated as one of NZ's top childcare centres by The Education Review Office! BestStart is one of NZ's leading early childcare providers. We provide affordable, high quality education and award winning childcare for babies, toddlers and preschoolers.

At BestStart Claudelands, we are a supportive extended family where everyone belongs!

BestStart Claudelands is one big extended family. By having relationships at our heart we are able to ensure our centre is a safe haven for children, families and teachers. Strong relationships within our centre whanau allows everybody to feel that they belong here and are safe to be themselves.

Located in one of Hamilton's oldest suburbs we are an established centre that has been part of the community for a while now. We look like a classic kindy but you will notice that we are a unique and vibrant bunch and we truly value inclusion and celebrate our diversity. 

We encourage tamariki to create, inspire and explore in their own unique ways and to always stay true to who they are. We value the learning that comes with a diversity as we build relationships we learn from one another. 

Our Team

Each member of our team brings something unique to the classroom. Our Centre Manager has been with us for more than fifteen years and is a pillar of our BestStart Claudelands whānau. The wider teaching team attend regular professional development to upskill with some of us having specialisations in working with diverse learners. We also have a chef to provide nutritious meals to keep our tamariki full of energy so they can continue learning and growing each day!

What We Offer

  • Fresh, healthy, nutritious meals and snacks provided throughout the day 
  • 20 hours free for 3-5 year olds and WINZ subsidies available* if required
  • Experienced tight-knit team of passionate teachers

Our spaces

Our centre has two main rooms named after Tui and Kereru which represent the cultural heritage and uniqueness of Jubilee Bush in the Claudelands area.

A big thank you to the team at ABC Claudelands for a fantastic Whanau Day. It was all my boy could talk about for days. The bouncy castle in the playground put the boys energy onto a whole new level. It was really nice for parents to stop and talk to other parents and teachers for more than 5 minutes (instead of the usual quick conversation on the run). It was also really nice for our older children who have been through ABC Claudelands to catch up with teachers and other children they went to childcare with. The team at ABC Claudelands always excel in maintaining a family/whanau environment and gatherings like Whanau Day encourage this. It was an awesome afternoon enjoyed by all and a fabulous way to end a busy week
