BestStart is one of NZ's leading early childcare providers. BestStart Dilworth provides affordable, high-quality education and award-winning childcare for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers. The child-to-teacher ratios at our facility are exceptional - we maintain a ratio of 1-3 children for U2s, and 1-6 children for our O2s.

At BestStart Dilworth Avenue, we value our community and believe in the reciprocal relationships that our children and the community can provide each other. We have established relationships with our local schools such as Kings, St Kents, and Remuera Primary, and we focus on providing opportunities for children to have experiences outside of the centre environment.

Regular community outings establish strong community relationships for children from a young age, reinforcing the importance of a sense of belonging. In addition to our core teaching team, we also have outside providers who come in during term for structured classes and activities such as dancing, yoga, and other sports.

Our Team

Our dedicated and qualified team of teachers promote learning through observation, exploration, and explanation which you will see reflected in our inspiring, well-resourced learning environments. Our onsite cook also provides nutritious meals and snacks for your child daily.

What We Offer

  • Weekly community excursions & relationships with local schools to support your child's transition to primary school
  • Healthy, nutritious meals and snacks provided by our centre cook daily
  • 20 hours free for 3-5 year olds and WINZ subsidies available* if required
  • Exceptional child-to-teacher ratios We maintain a ratio of 1-3 for U2s, and 1-6 children for O2's.

Our Spaces

We have five rooms for different age groups. Smaller groups within age-specific rooms means that our teachers have a greater ability to be aware and mindful of each child’s individual needs. We have two separate outdoor areas for our Under 2 and Over 2-year-old children.

Welcome to BestStart Dilworth Ave!

kind words from our parents

Parent

My little boy attends BestStart Dilworth and we are very pleased with his time there. The centre provides an excellent environment for children to grow and learn to be confident, respectful and also responsible. Teachers are passionate about their jobs and they always strive to bring their best to the children and to help them develop their social, physical and intellectual abilities. As a plus point, they provide nutritious meals with a good variety of food daily. We love the fact that the centre invests in extra activities (like Fairy Claire, Rugby Tots, etc) to enhance children’s learning. Small World is like a second home to our boy and we would highly recommend it to anyone considering a high quality childcare.

Parent

We have been a BestStart Dilworth family for 4 years and currently have 3 children at the centre. The teachers are amazing, and very caring but also very focussed on learning and development. Our children are so well looked after and have all thrived in this environment. The extra activities are also a bonus for the children, they all love visits from Fairy Clare and our eldest enjoys Rugby Tots, it is nice to see the centre investing in these extras. Our eldest will be leaving for school soon which will be sad as he’s been at the centre since he was 6 months old. We would recommend BestStart Dilworth to other families.

Parent

After using more than 3 child care centres in Auckland we must admit that as a family we are overwhelmed with the staff at BestStart Dilworth. The staff treats all children with genuine care and love. The staff is doing this out of their hearts and not just as a job in way shape or form. Thank you to you all, you are awesome and you are the best!

Parent

We have attended BestStart Diulworth for just over 2 years now and our son really enjoys the resources available as well as his weekly activities of Show & Tell, Rugby Tots, and Fairy Clare. Over this time he has grown in confidence under the care of his wonderful teachers and the management of the centre has been fantastic. We love that there’s a kitchen on site as well so the kids get cooked meals every day. It’s a great learning environment we would recommend to other families.

Exceptional and consistent management, teaching and resource management of the centre. Outstanding responses to the Covid situation each time. Messaging appropriate and timely. Absolutely feel the love from Helen and the team at Dilworth Ave. We know our son is loved, looked after and his best interests are always at the fore along with all other children at the centre. Excellent job.

Thank you for all you have done for Sophia over the last 4+ years. Sophia has enjoyed all her time at daycare particularly doing art in the project room and playing in the gym. We couldn't be happier about all the support and all you've done for Sophia.

Francois and I are delighted that Pierre assisted during 2 years to BestStart Dilworth Avenue. Pierre was daily motivated to go to the pre-school. He has learned many things, including the English language. When Pierre started, he didn't speak any English (we came directly from France), and now he manages the language without any issue. He learned the alphabet, numbers and now he can do some sums. We really appreciate the work done by the teachers, especially Anita and you, Mahwash!

We are grateful to Helen, too, for the guidance she gave us at the beginning, we were new in the country, and it was not easy for us. We didn't know about the NZ system.
