BestStart Girven Road provides affordable, high quality education and award-winning childcare for babies, toddlers and preschoolers in Mount Maunganui. We are open between 7:30am - 5:30pm and have been rated one of the top childcare centres in New Zealand by the Education Review Office.

Building the foundations of Hauora, together

At BestStart Girven Road, the hauora (wellbeing) of our tamariki, whanau and community is at the heart of everything we do. We aim to build the foundations of learning for tamariki, in partnership with whānau. We view tamariki as capable and competent and we encourage their innate curiosity. We love to provide an environment where tamariki feel comfortable to explore and make discoveries along with their peers and kaiako.

You will find us in the centre of the Arataki community only a couple of blocks away from the beach. We are connected to our local environment and celebrate our coastal community and local māori legends. We embrace our localised curriculum with unlimited potential to explore community partnership, protection and participation. We believe tamariki thrive when their hauora is balanced, respected and nurtured by kaiako, whānau and community.

Our Team

We are a small but close team with each teacher bringing their own unique skills to the table. With regular professional development and learning from one another, we are consistently upskilling to provide the best possible care and education to our BestStart Girven Road family.

    Our Spaces

    We have two learning spaces designed for the changing needs of children as the grow and develop. Our indoor spaces have age-appropriate resources to spark curious minds and our outdoor environments are spacious to encourage learning through play and exploration.

    My daughter started over a month ago and I just wanted to say that this day care is absolutely AMAZING! Since I have moved her from another daycare in Tauranga I am blown away with how professional, clean, and family orientated the centre is. The teachers in the nursery are absolutely amazing they are so positive, welcoming and make you feel like it’s a second home. I can’t believe how much my daughter has learnt in such a short time.
