BestStart is one of NZ's leading early childcare providers. BestStart Halswell Road in Christchurch provides affordable, high quality education and award winning childcare for babies, toddlers and preschoolers.

At Beststart Halswell Road, relationships are the heart of what we do!

At BestStart Halswell Road our curriculum is developed with the children for the children. Our heart leads our relationships and this helps us have meaningful connections with whānau and tamariki that allow us to understand exactly what aspiring learning we can help facilitate. 

We like to make each day a fun adventure for all of our tamariki and are passionate about celebrating diversity and educating our centre community on important causes, so we often have cultural celebrations and fundraising events at our centre.

We are on the main road heading into Halswell with the Halswell Domain and Halswell Quarry in walking distance where we visit on our spontaneous outings. 

Our Team

We are a small but passionate team who are dedicated to being the best for our tamariki. Our team is diverse and many of us have been at the centre for over five years. Regular professional development means we are regularly refreshing our knowledge on child development and upskilling our teaching practices to benefit children in our care.

Our Spaces

We provide age-specific programmes for your child and they are cared for in three separate rooms. All rooms offer options for morning, afternoon, 6 hour or full day sessions.  Our beautiful purpose built centre is well-resourced and learning is driven by children’s interests so they can become confident, independent, respectful and creative thinkers.

The children at our centre bring their own lunch boxes, which helps them to develop the self-care lunch box skills they will need when they start school. Nutritious morning and afternoon teas are provided each day.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making preschool such a joyous and positive experience for our family. We simply cannot express how much we appreciate all the patience, creativity, and love you have given to our boys. They’ve both learnt so much from you all and both have a wonderful foundation with which they can build on. You have not only taught them things but have directed them to trust themselves in all that they do and to become all that they dream. Our jobs as parents has been made so much easier with all the compassion, laughs and tears we have shared together and we feel very privileged to have become part of your ‘preschool family’. So thank you once again ladies for absolutely everything and for being your amazing, fantastic, vibrant selves.

Thank you for all that you have done for Dexter and Oswin. We are filled with mixed emotions as Dexter and Oswin make the transition to school. It is an exciting time for them as they start this new chapter, but we know how fond they are of the team here. We know how hard you all work on a daily basis to provide engaging and exciting learning experiences for the children who come here. It is obvious how much you love and care for all the children. You are all amazing, keep doing the fantastic work that you do.
