At BestStart Huntington, we believe learning is a journey.

We strive to provide opportunities that develop children’s independence and leadership within their surroundings while empowering them to seek and discover knowledge. We allow tamariki to take ownership of their learning journey and to find their own voice. We’re committed to promoting Hauora (wellbeing) within our centre for our tamariki, families and staff.

We engage in regular centre excursions that are planned to align with what we are learning about during each term, as well as the individual interests of our children. We also host a range of in-centre activities such as music and Playball sessions. Our teachers ensure that children engage in physical activity as part of their everyday learning experiences and we provide fresh, healthy food each day so that children receive the nourishment they need.

We have multiple age-specific rooms in our centre, allowing our teachers to tailor learning experiences to suit each child's stage of development. Our Set for School programme helps prepare children for primary school by building the skills and confidence they need for a successful start.

We also place a strong emphasis on supporting children as they move through our centre. Up to six months before transitioning to their next room, children have opportunities to spend time in their new learning environment, become familiar with the routines and build relationships with their new teachers and peers. This gradual transition helps children feel confident, comfortable, and ready for the next stage of their learning journey.
